i'll finish the thoughts post eventually just need to get the ball rolling on the rest of it but i will say one major disappointment i have with RE4R in terms of its story is that while it is better told, there are so many interesting elements from the original that begged to be carried over & expanded upon that are simply either completely missing, changed entirely or otherwise left just as vague, & no better example i could think of than operation javier being mentioned but completely butchered as being solely krauser's backstory with no connection to wesker, t-veronica, leon or manuela hidalgo (unless they plan on giving us some kind of krauser DLC that would at least expand on the single file we've been given, there's hints in separate ways of a connection between wesker & krauser at the very least) .
there was a push here to make what was a very goofy & charming outing for ressie into something darker & while i do enjoy some of the directions taken by the franchise since RE7 the lingering dread of its subject matter hidden beneath an unassuming veneer of b-movie cheese & gratuitous action has always been present, RE4 being no different, but i think the remake tried to have its cake & eat it too & while it delivers & enhanced the gameplay thrills of the original, i do think its story is overall lesser in comparison with several elements simplified for easier digestion (& completely missing almost any mention of american foreign intervention, salazar musing about the popularity of the word terrorist in a game set in 2004 & released in 2005 is kind of insane considering what america was justifying at the time & still is under the guise of combatting terrorism), especially in its villains, i've already mentioned my dislike for remake!saddler but wesker ? what did they do to you man .

Hey Ressy! Hope you are doing fine! 😊
So, I have this HC that Misaki Hiwatari had always had a soft spot for Tyson since he doesn't have a mother. She makes sure Tyson feels loved, but Voltaire isn't fond of Tyson.
Kai gets angry whenever Voltaire insults Tyson, and is jealous when Misaki acts like his mom and claims him to be her better son as compared to Kai. Tyson likes seeing Kai this way, and purposely acts super innocent in front of Misaki to get her motherly love.
So... Can you write something about this? I would be really glad. And yes, congrats for the completion of Tattoos! ♥️♥️
This is why I LOVE opening my askbox!
Whenever I think I’ve thought up EVERY idea and every AU, someone comes out of the woodwork with some really cool idea I’ve never thought of before!!
I LOVE THIS JEALOUS BROTHERLY KAI!!
I’m going to write them as just being friends, because I think it makes more sense that way? I’m not sure how you headcanon Misaki, so I’ll do a bit of artistic mishmash here. (artistic mishmash? I guess that's my word for ‘Ressy is just winging it’ LMAO.
This actually turned into like… a whole family thing? LIKE WOW. the ABSOLUTE DYSFUNCTION.
I hope you like it lmao im sorry
SO HERE WE GOOO
“Hiwatari, you have a guest—”
Kai rolled his eyes and dropped his book to his lap. He groaned and rested his head against the chaise lounge.
“Three guesses who?”
The servant nodded and opened the door to his room.
Tyson came bouncing in.
“Hey!”
The servant slipped out and closed the door behind them. Kai groaned.
“Why are you always here?”
Tyson jumped up to Kai’s bed and fell to his knees, “because you never come over to my house. And I get bored in the summer!”
Kai sat up and placed his book on a side table, “Max and Ray can’t come back fast enough…” he pinched his nose in between his thumb and forefinger, “what about Kenny? Or Hilary? Maybe even catch up on schoolwork?”
Tyson pouted and rolled over on his bed to stretch, “well, for the millionth time, Kenny is with Max in America studying at the PPB. Hilary has a boyfriend and is investing all her time in him. And schoolwork is yucky.”
Kai got to his feet, “don’t let my Grandfather know you’re here again.”
“I know.” Tyson complained, “he’ll bust a blood vessel for sure. Hey, is your mom here though?”
Kai shot him an angry glare.
“Okay okay, I was kidding! Geez.”
Tyson sat on the edge of the mattress while looking at Kai, “want to go get some food?”
“From where?” Kai asked while making his way to his wardrobe.
“Your kitchen is always well-stocked?” Tyson grinned.
“Let me get some clothes on. Then we can decide on a restaurant.” Kai opened the double doors to the wardrobe.
Tyson held on to the post of Kai’s canopy bed, “but I love that fancy cheese you guys always haaaave!”
Kai quickly turned his head to glare at him.
Tyson was taken back, “you know what? Fine. I’ll go get my own fancy cheese Mr. Grumpy Pants.”
Tyson jumped off the bed. Kai tried to call to him but he was already out of the doors and down the hallway.

Eve’s Diary - Entry #88
Tumblr media
Date: 6th of January, 2028
Dear Diary,
Well, winter break is over, and it was eventful. And Christmas at Hogwarts is kind of wonderful! I wonder if it’s always like this, or if it was extra special because of the Triwizard Tournament? I have heard kids say that if they stay at Hogwarts for Christmas, there’s a feast like the one we had, so I’m not sure… I do miss home, though.
So I held my Death Day Party for Yule (the Winter Solstice) and a whole lot more people showed up this time than they did for the one I threw last year. People gave photos, and there were all these gross smelling pastries Marigold helped me make. We stuffed them with some really concentrated cranberry and garlic, and stinky cheese, and we stuffed rotting pumpkins with fish and stinky cheese too. We had candles and black decorations on our trees, and a bonfire that turned blue from the ghosts!
I invited the Durmstrang Students, including Lars, and I gave back a photo I had of Golovin. Lars got upset because of this one ghost with a sword in his chest, and he ended up leaving. I felt really bad, and I’m worried I made it worse. But I haven’t seen them since the funeral. Bonnie also showed up, and asked me if I had any information or knew anything, but I told her I didn’t. I wish I did. I hate seeing so many people in such pain.
Ressy made us a little room to stay in for Christmas Eve, up on the seventh floor. She turned a little classroom into this pillow fort thing with hot chocolate and cookies and Christmas decorations, and it was really cute. We hung out in our pajamas and just talked and read, and had fun. We slept there, too, and I had good dreams for once. My dreams have been all kinds of messed up, lately, but that night, I remembered dreaming about adventure, and having wings. I wish I had wings I could fly with…
For Christmas, I got my own broom! It’s called a Moontrimmer broom, and it’s old and good for flying up really high! I’m really happy to finally have my own broom. I’ve been wrapping it up and tucking it safe behind my bed every night, and I got to fly around the castle a little bit, on it, which was cool. I could never do that with classes on, I’d get yelled at!
I also got a locket from my mother, and an extra soft blanket and some books to read. I didn’t get any enchanted plushies or anything like I had last year, but I did get a very pretty nutcracker, which sits on the desk next to my bed in the dorms.
We had Christmas Dinner at Hogwarts, which was really good. It was a big feast, and there were crackers everywhere! Nora and I pulled a few, and told jokes and stuff. I got to eat turkish delight and those chocolate sticks that have fruit jelly inside? Which are my favourites! And of course lots of mashed potatoes.
There was a “Jam Session” in the dueling room, and Magnus, Sebastien (the Beaxbaton’s second), Professor Rask, and Emily were all playing instruments. A redheaded Ravenclaw boy joined them, and it was just… A lot of fun! I love music, and I feel like I miss it a lot at the castle. We can’t have electronic music players or anything here, after all, so most of the music I hear is Ressy playing violin.
I had a very quiet New Years, alone. I hung out in a tower and I drew, and watched people set off fireworks in Hogsmeade when it was midnight. I think people in the castle were celebrating, too, and it kind of made me wish I had bought fireworks to celebrate with them, but it’s okay. And for lunch that day, I had black eyed peas and mashed potatoes, which reminded me of home.
They had this polar dip thing down by the lake that morning, too. I jumped in and… It was the worst feeling! Absolutely freezing! I’m very grateful that we have the hot-air charm, and there were plenty of blankets, too. I learned I can stand walking around in the snow barefoot, though, so that’s cool! Pun… not intended.
And then we had the funeral for the Durmstrang Headmaster. He was in a glass coffin, holding a branch, and he looked really peaceful. It was by the Whomping Willow, because he apparently loved the Whomping Willow? And it took him down into the ground with its roots. I cried a lot. The Durmstrangers had some… difficulties with this really tall man who is supposed to be their new Headmaster, I guess, and they all sang that song that their Headmaster loved a lot.
Now we’re back to school. We have a new Charms Professor, and a new Art Professor, and we’re meeting both of them today, which is really exciting! So, until then...
Much love, Everly

Plans Shplans
My weekend in Paris was fantastic in the sense that I got to see my dear Engly friend and hike around Paris a bit, but sort of not ideal on many levels as the two of us just couldn’t plan shit. I made one dinner ressie, and it was very nice, but other than that we roamed around. Roaming has its merits. We saw things we didn’t intend to see, unexpected flea markets, little nooks and crannies galore. But we did tend to walk in circles a bit. She was in a post-work week daze, I was in a post freeze/new life haze. The combo made for some interesting decision making, eg. going to a place with a EUR10 prix fixe for lunch. What? Never in a million years would I consider that stateside, or really anywhere, except here. This weekend. In our glazed over dazy haze.
Unsurprisingly, the meal was lacking in a lot. Namely, flavor. However, the company and the experience was truly priceless. Somehow it was a bit pathetic and a lot of hilarious. I will forever remember the sensation of sawing through the toughest steak on the planet wondering a) is it even a meat? b) will I get carpal tunnel from this? and then looking up to see my horristricken friend’s face as she watched the neighboring raclette machine in action. It was one of those old timey standy uppy ones, that is basically just two clothes irons pressing the cheese in middair, resulting in a waterfall of melted goo. I love cheese, but even the sight of that put me off.
The rest of our time was a series of foibles, indecision, mishaps and a lot of shoulder shrugging. It was also full of deep belly, tears squriting out eyeholes laughter. The kind that one really doesn’t experience at a perfect 5 star restaurant where everythins is “a-MAZ-ing”.
I was reflecting on my weekend as I sat on my train back to the village Sunday afternoon. Recovering from a tenshion headache, trying to read a magazine, and wolfing down a bag of Haribo “Polka Mix”, I found myself smiling about the great time had with a truly wonderful person. Someone who is still great even after a day of aimless wandering and a terrible meal is a rare thing, I concluded.
My thoughts were interrupted by the high pitched chrips of young children. Just when I thought the family of four was going to pass me by, they sat themselves down in the fourspot next to me. Inwardly, my eyes rolled and I braced myself for a touch of annoyance. Then I recognized something familiar. I noticed the little girl, roughly 7, was laughing and whining some sort of “oh no...” lament in French. She started giggling, then the little boy a bit younger also started giggling. Papa was then making comforting noises, but also laughing a bit. Nothing stern or akin to a reprimand. Maman also said a few words of comfort, then there was silence and they all giggled in unison. I was charmed by them, so I glanced over to take in a delightful family. As I looked over, my attention was taken by a small shape on the window. The little girl saw me looking and gasped in surprise, then started giggling.
I had no choice but to join her.

Days get hotter. Drinks get cooler. Nights get longer. The music gets louder and friends turn into Family. As the pace quickens this summer, the ABODE announcements keep rolling in! We’re delighted to reveal the stage hosts and first wave of talent for ABODE in the Park 2017.
This slideshow requires JavaScript.
Since the first clubbers graced the dance floor in 2014, ABODE has been about family. From humble beginnings in Greenwich to parties across the globe, their roots run deep and this collection of talent represents that journey.  Do Not Sleep’s Darius Syrossian, Circus head honcho Yousef and Origins Records’ Josh Butler join Viva Records stalwart Detlef and pan-Atlantic star SecondCity with a special live performance from Crosstown Rebel’s Infinity Ink completing the announcement. All have performed at ABODE at various stages – some as secret guests and some as outright headliners – they’re part of ABODE’s DNA. Meanwhile, their always on point ressies; Ellie Cocks, Jimmy Switch, GW Harrison, Will Taylor and new addition and technical wizard Jack Swift all feature at the brand’s first ever festival.
And now onto the stage hosts. ABODE will take control of the main stage while the world’s best-known clubbing institute Sankeys take the reigns in the warehouse arena bringing their legendary party atmosphere and production values along with them. They’re joined by Ibiza’s renowned party brand Do Not Sleep who promise to bring that Ibiza vibe to London in the big top tent.  All will bring their own personality and all will contribute to an unrivaled and varied atmosphere.
ABODE has always been a party renowned for their no expense sparred production and attention to detail. This festival will be the pinnacle of everything before and we’re promised a Rio Carnival experience in the heart of North London. Stage performance, the biggest and best sounds systems, fire shows, imposing LED screens, next generation video mapping and sprinklings of confetti are a taste of what’s in store.
For the more discerning dancing feet, there’s an exclusive VIP area hosted by ABODE’s summary sister label HotBed and tropical party collective Paravana Project. Hotbed off the back of 2 summers of infamous parties at Ocean Beach Ibiza and Paravana as worldwide festival regulars mean we’re in good hands. Expect live saxophones, percussion and sexy vocals with private bars, posh toilets, table service and sun loungers a plenty.
And so to the food… Nom nom nom. Anna Mae’s Mac N Cheese will be serving Elbow macaroni in a gooey Monterey Jack, sharp Cheddar, and stringy Mozzarella cheese sauce while Arancini offer up “Artisanal Italian street food”. Butchies treat us to their gorgeous buttermilk fried chicken, Bangwok showcase proper, authentic Thai cuisine and Chip Chip Hooray show off their highly regarded “custom made chips n dips”. Dosa Deli keeps the veggies happy with a taste of Southern India and stunning dosa wraps. The Cheeky Italian, Earl’s Sandwiches, Le Bun, PopDogs and The Cheese Truck will also be keeping people fed during the festival.
Another 20 headline artists will be announced over the coming weeks.

The Best Yoga & Food Spots Ubud, Bali – Bali Blessings and Bliss
I’m back from another whirlwind and beautiful trip from Bali – but this time it was a little more unique than a personal travel. I was blessed to be joining one of my best friends, co-founder of Leela Yoga, and fellow yogini-entrepreneur, Kelsi Ludvigsen. We co-hosted a yoga retreat at Soulshine, just outside of Ubud in Bali. Amongst the idyllic rice fields and sunsets galore, we had an amazing group of ladies join us for a week of rest, rejuvenation, movement, meditation, and mindfulness.  Our days were filled with yoga, raw foods and spiritual excursions around the magical island.
Here’s the run down on what you need to do on your next trip to Bali, based my latest experience. For other excursions and places to eat, check out this post, and this post, from my previous trips. <3
A special thanks to Jessi Bloom for taking some gorgeous pictures to accompany this post.
Practice Yoga Here
The Yoga Barn
Yoga studios are abound around Ubud, and one of the first ones you’re going to hear about is The Yoga Barn (picture below). Boasting large open air studios in their main building, and smaller more intimate classes in the upper building, the Yoga Barn is your one stop shop. Meditation, Singing bowls, Shamanic Breathing, Ecstatic dance and women’s circles all make it on the schedule along side the expected vinyasa, yin, hatha and restorative classes. Don’t miss the Kush Spa and the Garden Cafe also on the property.
Soulshine Bali
Where Kelsi and I taught was at Soulshine, just outside the main city center and set in those beautiful rice fields. You can find classes being held there by some renowned teachers around the world – check their schedule and pop in for a class (pre-organize with the retreat center though, as these are retreat taught classes and many are private).
Radiantly Alive
Radiantly Alive is another one on the hit list. The classes are smaller than yoga-barn, but still a fair size, and the prices are slightly higher.  Check out their myofascial movement classes, or Sky Yoga Flow. They are centrally located, and you can grab a smoothie over at
Eat and Drink Here
There are so many amazing places and spaces to eat in Bali – especially in Ubud. A quick list of my favourites include:
Alchemy – juices, smoothies and raw foods galore, this is your go to for incredible raw food while in Ubud (well worth the walk).
La Pacha Mama – Awesome Mexican vegetarian restaurant found next to Alchemy (and owned by the same people), you’ll have some of the best Mexican food you’ve ever tasted. Get on with the incredible Guacamole and Gluten-free enchiladas.
Clear Cafe – I think I’ve eaten here more than any other restaurant in Ubud – known for its awesome vegan, vegetarian and raw foods, but also offering local favourites, cooked meals and minimal meat (some fish). I love their Green Hornet Smoothie and often ate their Kitcharee (Ayurvedic stew).
Bali Buddha – Awesome gluten-free options, raw options, juices and smoothies. I had a yummy gluten-free pizza, because, you know, cravings. ;)
Earth Cafe  – Nestled upstairs form the grocery store (where you’ll find all the natural goodies and kombucha for your heart’s content) find a great plant-lover’s restaurant with great juices/smoothies raw and cooked fare. Try their half dragon bowl with some soup and a young fresh coconut for lunch.
LaRamona – for those that aren’t into the vegan/raw food scene, you MUST check out LaRamona Tapas bar. In this “hole in the wall” you’ll have your tastebuds dancing. Some of the best (and well priced) food in Ubud. A must!
Garden Kafe (at the Yoga Barn) – Full of raw food options, vegetarian, vegan and Ayurvedic, you’ll have everything here for a post yoga-class lunch. It’s a great place to hang out too.
Seeds of Life – Your raw food stop for the amazing Raw Mexican Lasagna and the tonics and elixirs are incredible. Step into the apothecary and find what you need to heal the body and soul.
Moksa – Fancy raw food, set in the rice fields and boasting their own permaculture garden, this place is fantastic. We actually took  a raw food class with the head chef Made, who inspired us with his “coconut calamari” and “pumpkin herbed cashew cheese wraps” (pictured) – yummo.
Nam!!
Sacred Journeys
I don’t have any photos to share, with the exception of this one taken by Jessi. The reason was because the experience was far too sacred to share on social media. I joined my girlfriends to visit one of the most incredible women in Bali – the youngest High Priestess on the island – Ida Ressi. Born I Komang Wediantari, 32-year-old Ida’s rise to Balinese priesthood is remarkable. Ida was raised by a family of farmers, and it wasn’t until she struggled to find work after her studies that her grandfather, a village priest, guided her toward the spiritual realm instead. She begins the session by chanting to guide all 20 of the attendees to meditation. Then, two-by-two, she brings up the guests and performs the melukat (a purification ceremony). What happens next is hard to describe, but I was witness to some losing their tears, stomping their feat, shaking in their bodies and hyperventilating.  As she pours the water, she gently encourages you “Wipe your face, wash your hair and your whole body.” Upon being finished you feel as though you have gone through hours of tears and transformation – but it has only lasted 5 minutes. This is an “experience for yourself” event that I would recommend to all my spirit-seeking sisters.
Shop Local Treasures
I have a huge sweet spot for this stunning jewelry brand based in Ubud. Ananda Soul Creations doesn’t just create jewelry with meaning, the founder is a passionate “empowerer” of women. The beautiful artist-yogi-founder, Christina, uses the company not only to create beautiful boho and meaningful pieces of art, she also creates jobs for and help women in need in the local area. Ananda Soul focuses on sustainable and ethical production – fair wages, sourcing standards on everything from the metals and gemstones, recycled metals and giving back to mother’s living in poverty within Bali. There is so much more to say, but I guess the beauty of the pieces will be enough to have you hopping over to her e-shop.
The ring on the top left hand side came home with me on this trip.
I hope you enjoyed this latest rendition of Bali Blessings and the photo diary.
See you soon, beauties.

thinking about how poorly ada wong crosses over into other horror franchises as opposed to non-horror as a general rule of thumb
#*  file   // :   OOC   —   (   𝐓𝐇𝐄  𝐏𝐎𝐒𝐓𝐄𝐑'𝐒  𝐂𝐑𝐔𝐒𝐀𝐃𝐄 .   )#primary reasoning being that her main character trait as shown on screen & discussed in in-game files is her stoic demeanour#a legendary spy who remains seemingly unfazed in the presence of certain death/destruction without end/body horror beyond imagination#( it can be a bit one note honestly & a commonality in the strong female character archetype i do not enjoy#being stripped of the ability to feel )#which isn't something i actively portray as an earnest aspect of her presentation#she's a person with an iron stomach not an automaton#rather#& i do take a lot of inspiration from the remake where she feels more realistically well rounded in regards to her ability to remain calm#( i.e. she doesn't#she is consistently struggling to maintain a cracking mask#which becomes an easier feat the longer she survives & assures her survival before even setting foot in another layer of hell )#( her confidence builds as a natural shield from years of experience )#this doesn't all together mesh well with ressie as a horror franchise#though i don't think the games are themselves that scary to play respectively & they devolved into self-serious action schlock for a while#most of the real horror comes from considering the themes & real world implications#particularly in regards to privatised healthcare / pharmaceutical monopolies / american empire#( despite the capcom hallmark of cheese resident evil can portray a very real horror )#which i've said before are far stronger in the games preceding 4#though present in later entries they are improperly dealt with & i think 6 especially feels needlessly fatalistic#& relies too much on shock value that feels vapid once the moment passes#( i appreciate 6 ending on a somewhat hopeful note though - that's always one part of any ressie game i enjoy )#( everything eventually leads to some catharsis#not doom & gloom )#the horror is real & terrible but it can be beaten etc.#& ada being shown as smirking in the face of it does somewhat undermine the point dgsajdhgsahjd#which is perhaps why removed from it or allowed to exist within her own context she's better suited for genres that only borrow#certain horror elements but never the full slate#hopefully i've made my point i went on a needlessly long tangent again

honestly, though tying ada to a symbolic process of rebirth would befit her butterfly motif from RE4, rather than viewing her escape of the tragic fate which befalls femme fatales as an act of rebirth ( & since her defiance of this narrative trope is limited to one game ), i look at her constant survival as just that, survival .  it is a more simplistic interpretation, perhaps, & though who ada is before & after raccoon city is a topic i’ve discussed & plan to cover in more detail, to interpret it as rebirth is to wander into the metaphysical, areas that while resident evil may flirt with throughout the franchise, i have grounded my portrayal & interpretations of ada & the world she inhabits in something akin to realism ( defining her nebulous spy-work as industrial espionage, for example ), combined with the science fiction of ressie’s viruses & monsters, along with its approach to grandstanding action set pieces .  there’s also an element of purposeful cheese & self-awareness to my portrayal, which is drawn directly from RE4 ( the best game ) .  as such, rather than ada being reborn in the ashes of raccoon city, her actions, the changes she undergoes, assuming the narrative role of a femme fatale & undoing its limitations to form her own self-identity, define her own existence & purpose in the stories she inhabits, is the natural process of survival .  adapting & thriving in a series of new environments, much like why a caterpillar becomes a butterfly, to exist beyond limitations of one form & to continue its life cycle :) .  ada’s narrative has always been one of survival against stacked odds, like every ressie protagonist, & though she undergoes a drastic shift between the second & fourth games, it always ends with her as the winner .  the only time i reference ada wong & rebirth is in her own internal monologue, how she interprets her constant need to change & shift to fit each mission, how she sees the many identities she discards .  as with many aspects of ada, there is always dichotomy, even in her realm of endless & hyper-aware self-analysis, she is bound to embellish her story, view herself as something other than what she truly is, many women at once rather than just the one .  her ability to fully interpret the self against the backdrop of the world around her is inhibited by her depersonalization disorder, of course, always an endless storm of questions & doubts about who & what she is, to whom her emotions belong, a detachment from her lived experiences & relationships .  ada wong exists in myth, a world renowned spy who survived the destruction of raccoon city & stole umbrella’s secrets, & so too does she mythologize herself .  the dehumanization of the female spy, a self inflicted tragedy .
